diminishing returns on protein?
Published: Thu, 03/30/17
You’ve heard of the law of diminishing returns, right?
It’s that danger zone where doing more actually
brings you progressively LESS results.
And we’ve all experienced it. We get mad gains for
6 months and then they start slowing down.
And after 12 months, it slows down even more.
And then it’s a constant struggle for every ounce of new muscle.
I mention this because one of the most common areas to
experience diminishing returns is on your protein consumption.
Of course, if you’re serious about your training -- you probably
have calculated your protein needs; and you know consuming
more than that delivers little or no benefit.
Those aren’t the diminishing returns I’m talking about...
Instead, I’m referring to a sneakier and much less
obvious problem, which every lifter faces.
It’s something that will determine whether much of your
protein shake is used by your body -- or flushed down the toilet.
I’m talking about HOW MUCH PROTEIN DO YOU ACTUALLY ABSORB?
Absorb isn’t the best word either. ASSIMILATE is more accurate.
What does that mean?
Here’s the simplest definition of what NEEDS to happen for you
to use that protein shake and chicken breasts.
- You chew the protein.
- Enzymes start breaking down the protein into amino acids.
- Amino acids cross the gut wall.
- Enzymes reassemble the amino acids into muscle tissue.
Here’s the problem: as we get older… as we pound tons of protein…
our bodies “enzyme reserves” gets lower and lower.
Specifically, protein-digesting enzymes.
Remember when you were young and you could literally eat anything
-- I mean ANYTHING -- didn’t matter what it was: pizza, fast food, coke,
tacos, the list and endless.
Not only would you avoid getting fat... your youthful digestion would just
burn through those heavy foods like a hot knife through butter.
Indigestion? Are you kidding? As a kid, you’d barely feel
the food an hour later.
That’s largely because when we’re young -- our enzyme
levels are through the roof.
Now, you know damn well if you ate those crappy foods
now there’d be hell to pay in your stomach...
And that’s because many years of eating processed or even
cooked food (enzymes die at 114 degrees and above) means
our bodies must use their own finite supply to digest foods.
As we get older, our enzyme levels plummet -- and given that
protein-digesting enzymes play multiple roles in the body -- they
get hit the worst.
Are you seeing the problem here?
We keep training and consuming more and more protein...
while our enzymes -- and ability to DIGEST that protein --
keeps going down.
That, my friend, is the law of diminishing returns at its worst.
Fortunately, there IS a solution -- the best way to repair your
protein-digestion and ensure all those daily meals and shakes
aren’t going to waste.
It’s through something called MassZymes -- which was created
by my buddy Wade T. Lightheart -- a champion bodybuilder who
KNOWS about building size and strength.
There, you’ll get a more detailed breakdown of how enzymes help
maximize your protein digestion... accelerate muscle building...
even transform your recovery.
As we both know, recovery is every bit as critical as training --
it’s where most of the growth gains are realized.
Look. You’re spending money on quality protein supplements
and food sources...
Don’t risk flushing hundreds of dollars down the drain each month --
simply because your body doesn’t have the enzymes it needs to
digest all the protein you eat.
This is flat out one of the best ways to ensure you avoid diminishing
returns and continue to grow, recover and then grow some more.
You can see my pic at the bottom of the page, because I experienced
MassZymes firsthand.
Keep training hard,

which shows how quickly MassZymes helps break down a steak.
It’s pretty mind-blowing.
