Contrast Showers (Should You Use Them?)
Published: Wed, 09/25/13
Maybe you've heard of contrast showers, maybe you
haven't.
They are a secret weapon used by some of the world's
strongest men that you should definitely add to your
tool box of recovery methods.
Plus they don't cost time or money which is pretty cool.
Andy Bolton (First Dude to Deadlift 1K Pounds) is a big
fan of them because he knows they have all kinds of
health benefits including:
- Feeling invigorated afterwards
- Reducing muscle spasms and soreness
- Improved blood circulation
- Boosting the immune system
- Helps detoxify the body
- Stimulating sex-hormones & pain relief
- Aids in the treatment of arthritus
Okay so I don't want to leave you hanging, here's how
Andy Bolton recommends you use contrast showers.
-Have a contrast shower 6-12 hours after a heavy training
session. (Still take a normal shower after your workout)
-Do one minute hot, followed by 30-seconds cold. The hot
water should be as hot as you can stand and the cold water
should be as cold as you can stand.
-Be careful with the hot water and use common sense!
-1 minute hot, 30-seconds cold, repeat 4-8 times. That's
all there is to it.
Start using contrast showers and you will recover faster
from your strength training session.
And if you need help with your strength training, I higly
recommend listening to everything this guy says about
getting stronger. I sure do.
Keep training hard,
Mike Westerdal
