NFL Top Performers
Published: Sun, 01/06/13
I've been spending a lot of time today putting the finishing touches
on the new Bench for Reps program ready to be released next week.
I got distracted for a bit watching some videos and reading about the
Redskins vs. Seahawks game tomorrow. I'm a huge Skins fan having
grown up in northern VA.
RG3 the star QB on the Redskins needs to have a big day and I'm
hoping his knee will be close to 100% so he can utilize that speed.
He was the fastest QB at the NFL Combine last year.
While I was checking out the other top performers I had to click the
225 LBS Bench Rep Test tab.
If you want to see how many times the top NFL prospects can bench
press 225 lbs by year, check it out here. You can narrow it down by
position too.
The all-time record is like 49-reps. That is insane..huh?!
My best rep test was 315 for 15...but I think 225 for 49 is way more
impressive.
Some of the other events from the combine include the 40-yard dash,
Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, 3-Cone Drill, 20 Yard Shuttle and the
60 Yard Shuttle. Now here's something I find really interesting...

The Only Event That Involves Lifting Weights In the NFL Combine is
the 225 Bench Press Test
Out of all the lifts they could have picked, the NFL that is worth millions
upon millions of dollars decided that this one bench press test is a safe and
easy gauge from year to year in terms of Overall Strength Endurance which is
an imperative factor for winning football games (and just being an all around
bad-ass).
Gotta grab some zzzzzz's it's getting late. I'll keep you posted on the progress
of the new Bench for Reps program tomorrow or Monday.
Go Skins!
